Unleashing the Power of Dreams: Cultivating a Sacred Relationship with Your Subconscious

Having a Relationship with Your Dreams

In previous monthly articles, I've discussed dreams, but this month, I want to approach them from the perspective of fostering a relationship rather than merely analyzing and interpreting them. A relationship with your dreams involves cultivating respect for them, considering them as entities you can engage with dialogically.

For me personally, my deeper understanding and appreciation began when I started viewing dreams as sacred messages originating from various parts of myself and beyond our regular reality. Rather than mere curiosities, they became revered symbols - sacred, holy, and of immense value, even if their meaning wasn't immediately clear to me. This sentiment of respect transformed how I perceived my dreams; it led me to honor them by keeping a dream journal next to my bed every night.

The importance of respect and appreciation should not be underestimated. Symbols embody your heart's language, which the subconscious understands. By recording your dreams after waking or having gratitude for their occurrence, you are speaking this universal language to your dreams - expressing that they matter to you, acknowledging their wisdom, and valuing their messages. The act of having a dream journal and pen beside you is symbolic; it signals that you recognize dreams as important facets of who you are.

Your relationship with dreams will grow stronger the more time you sp nurturing it. Like an enriching marriage where love deepens beyond initial expectations, so too does your bond with dreams expand infinitely when you honor them by keeping a journal, writing down your dreams each morning, and contemplating their significance.

Your dream journal serves as a book of enigmatic wisdom cloaked in symbolic layers; initially revealing only fnt clues, but gradually unveiling patterns, repetitions, and overarching narratives. This process requires patience, introspection, and the courage to trust that the answers lie within - and indeed, they do.

The “Dew”

I refer to the dew as the twilight state between waking and sleeping when you first awaken in the morning or right before falling asleep at night. This period offers a special and valuable opportunity for reflection on dreams or receiving insights if none occur. Make use of this time by relaxing, indulging, and soaking up secret wisdom without rushing into your day. Avoid writing down your dreams immediately; instead, let them play with you during these fleeting moments.

Before drifting off to sleep at night, you might ask specific questions that require insight or resolution. Quietly repeating your query can sometimes trigger the dream process, although having a journal by your bed often proves sufficient on its own. This routine of keeping a dream journal and pen handy fosters a relationship with your dreams - one that will naturally deepen over time.

Ultimately, the nature of this evolving relationship is between you and your dreams. Each person has an individual and unique connection to their dreams. No two relationships are alike. Yet if you aspire to a sincere and authentic partnership, consider cultivating respect, dignity, and sincerity towards your dreams. When approached with such reverence, they will often mirror these sentiments back.
